A common denominator in the rash of mass shootings over the last few years is not just guns but the alienation of “disturbed young men,” the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) argued in an editorial Sunday.
In the aftermath of last weekend’s shootings in El Paso and Dayton, it is easy to place the blame on access to firearms or a caustic political environment, rather than focus on what kind of people are responsible for mass shootings, the WSJ editorial board contends.
Regardless of what political sphere these lone gunmen operate within, their lives are often characterized by isolation and a lack of a social cocoon outside of government.
“This is one price we are paying for the decline in what the late sociologist Peter Berger called the ‘mediating institutions’ that help individuals form cultural and social attachments. These are churches, business and social clubs like the Rotary, charitable groups, even bowling leagues, and especially the family. Government programs can never replace these as protectors of troubled young people,” the editorial states.

Trump Calls Baltimore ‘Disgusting, Rat And Rodent Infested Mess’
President Donald Trump is not a fan of Baltimore, or the Democratic lawmaker that represents much of the city in Congress.
In a series of tweets on Saturday, the Republican described the Maryland metropolis as a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess” that is “a very dangerous & filthy place.”
Trump went on the diatribe during an attack on Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings over the Democrat’s comments at a House hearing earlier this month with border patrol officials.
Cummings, the chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, erupted at acting Department of Homeland Security Sec. Kevin McAleenan during a hearing about the southern border July 18.
After McAleenan said government officials are “doing our best” to handle the immigration crisis at the border, Cummings went off.

Bill Clinton Distances Himself from Jeffrey Epstein
Former President Bill Clinton distanced himself on Monday from Jeffrey Epstein, a billionaire financier and former donor who was arrested for child sex trafficking over the weekend.
Clinton, who has taken a lower public profile since the 2016 presidential race, issued a statement through his press secretary, Angel Ureña, claiming to know “nothing about the terrible crimes” Epstein is purported to have committed.
“President Clinton knows nothing about the terrible crimes Jeffrey Epstein pleaded guilty to in Florida some years ago, or those with which he has been recently charged in New York,” the statement reads. “In 2002 and 2003, President Clinton took a total of four trips on Jeffrey Epstein’s airplane: One to Europe, one to Asia, and two to Africa, which included stops in connection with the work of the Clinton Foundation.”
The statement denotes that “staff, supporters of the Foundation,” and the former president’s Secret Service detail were along on “every leg” of those trips.” Fox News, however, reported in May 2016 that Clinton went on at least 26 trips aboard Epstein’s plane — the “Lolita Express” — between 2001 and 2003, according to flight logs from the Federal Aviation Administration. Listed as the destination for those trips were exotic locales like the Azores, Singapore, Brunei, Norway, and Russia, among others.

Financial Blacklisting: Sleeping Giants and Soros-Backed Group Pressure Mastercard to Censor the Right
A coalition of far-left political activist organizations known for peddling smears about conservatives held a protest at Mastercard’s annual general meeting (AGM) today, aiming to pressure the international credit card giant to financially blacklist wider sections of the political right. The groups’ proposal to form a “human rights committee” did not sway shareholders, who voted the measure down.
At Mastercard’s AGM this morning, the far-left groups SumOfUs and Sleeping Giants circled the venue with a mobile billboard stating: “Putting hate groups out of business? #Priceless.”

Hillary Clinton, who used a private email server as secretary of state, will speak at a cyber defense summit later in 2019, it was announced Thursday.
FireEye, a cybersecurity company based in California, announced Clinton will give the keynote speech at its annual summit in Washington, D.C., in October.
“Cyber security is not any one defender’s responsibility, but a global effort — a cause championed by many for the good of all. By coming together as a community to innovate, build strategies and share knowledge on today’s threats and tomorrow’s risks, we empower ourselves as defenders with the collective wisdom to protect our way of life and the technologies that have become central to it,” FireEye said in a press release, Fox News first reported.
Clinton will have plenty to talk about at the summit.

GEORGE SOROS FUNDED FUSION GPS, HIS SPOKESMAN CONFIRMS
- A spokesman for left-wing billionaire financier George Soros is acknowledging that he indirectly funded Fusion GPS, the firm behind the Steele dossier
- Sources have told The Daily Caller News Foundation in the past that Soros helped fund Fusion’s post-election work on Russian interference in the election process
- Soros’ spokesman told The Washington Post that Soros donated to the Democracy Integrity Project, a group founded by a former staffer to Sen. Dianne Feinstein
George Soros has indirectly funded Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm behind the infamous Steele dossier, a spokesman for the billionaire financier has acknowledged.
Michael Vachon, the Soros aide, told Washington Post columnist David Ignatius that Soros provided a grant to a nonprofit group called the Democracy Integrity Project.
That organization, which was formed in 2017 by Daniel Jones, a former Senate Intelligence Committee staffer for Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California, paid Fusion GPS as a contractor to continue an investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

A leaked video published Wednesday night appears to show several senior Google executives holding a large staff meeting following the 2016 election to reckon with President Donald Trump’s victory.
In the video, Google’s executives speculate about what motivated people to vote for Trump, as well as the role the company can play in informing people about the election. Executives also appear to discuss ways to defend what they called good values.
“We have no idea what direction this country will take… It’s a period of great uncertainty… especially for immigrants or minorities [and] women,” co-founder Sergey Brin told Google employees. “As an immigrant and a refugee, I certainly find this election deeply offensive, and I know many of you do too.”
The video features co-founders Larry Page and Brin, VPs Kent Walker and Eileen Naughton, CFO Ruth Porat, and CEO Sundar Pichai.
One executive, Porat, got emotional while talking about the election’s results and promised employees that company will “use the great strength and resources and reach we have to continue to advance really important values.”

Two former key aides to President Donald Trump are denying quotes and actions attributed to them in a new book by Bob Woodward, they said in Tuesday statements.
“This book does not accurately portray my experience at the White House,” former NEC Director Gary Cohn said in a Tuesday statement. “I am proud of my service in the Trump Administration, and I continue to support the President and his economic agenda.”
Woodward alleged that Cohn once took key trade documents off Trump’s desk and disparaged his intelligence frequently. Cohn was joined by disgraced White House staff secretary Rob Porter in denying elements of the book.
Porter also told Axios and other news outlets “having now read Bob Woodward’s Fear, I am struck by the selective and often misleading portrait it paints of the President and his administration,” adding “during my time in the White House, I sought to serve the President’s best interests and to help enable his many successes—successes that Mr. Woodward’s book ignores.”

MINNESOTA DFL PARTY BACKS KEITH ELLISON DESPITE DOMESTIC ABUSE ALLEGATIONS
The Minnesota Democratic Farm Labor (DFL) Party overwhelming voted to endorse embattled Democrat Keith Ellison for state attorney general on Saturday, despite recent abuse allegations.
The party voted in favor of endorsing Ellison by a vote of 326 to 70.
“I want to tell you, face to face, that I never abused Karen,” Ellison said to the delegation, according to the Minnesota Star Tribune. “Despite everything, I still care about her as a person and I don’t want anybody to say anything insulting to her at all.”
The delegation opted to vote via paper ballot instead of voice vote to allow individuals to feel more comfortable.
“Our party is going to do everything it can to help Keith and the other candidates on the ballot,” DFL Party Chair Ken Martin said after the vote was announced.

At a recent “Keep Families Together” rally in Los Angeles, Democrat Congresswoman Maxine Waters said, “If you see anybody from [President Trump’s] Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station — you get out and you create a crowd, and you push back on them!”
Later, she said, “The people are going to turn on them. They’re going to protest. They’re going to absolutely harass them…”
In the halls of Congress on Monday, investigative journalist Laura Loomer shrewdly asked Waters if conservatives should sit in the back of the bus and where they should eat. Waters refused to answer the questions, swatted Loomer away with some papers in her hand and then refused to allow Loomer to enter her elite, “members-only” congressional elevator.
I truly appreciated Loomer’s insightful questions.
My question is: Does Waters wants America to return to those divisive, intolerant days, similar to when Southern Democrats routinely segregated and harassed our fellow black American citizens?
Fortunately, this time around, intolerant Democrats like Waters are not targeting Americans due to their racial heritage. Sadly, they are instead targeting them solely due to their political affiliation, no matter how loose that affiliation might be. They are denying their fellow human beings the freedom to eat a meal, purchase gasoline or watch a movie in peace. Think about that.

FACEBOOK, AMAZON, GOOGLE AND TWITTER ALL WORK WITH LEFT-WING SPLC
- The Southern Poverty Law Center helps Facebook, Amazon, Google and Twitter determine what organizations are “hate groups”

Four of the world’s biggest tech platforms have working partnerships with a left-wing nonprofit that has a track record of inaccuracies and routinely labels conservative organizations as “hate groups.”
Facebook, Amazon, Google and Twitter all work with or consult the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) in policing their platforms for “hate speech” or “hate groups,” a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation found.
The SPLC is on a list of “external experts and organizations” that Facebook works with “to inform our hate speech policies,” Facebook spokeswoman Ruchika Budhraja told The DCNF in an interview.
Facebook consults the outside organizations when developing changes to hate speech policies, Budhraja said, noting that Facebook representatives will typically hold between one and three meetings with the groups.

California State Bar Investigating Michael Avenatti
Michael Avenatti, porn star Stormy Daniels’ attorney, is being investigated by the California State Bar, a new report reveals.
Seattle attorney David Nold filed a complaint against Avenatti on March 26, as The Daily Caller News Foundation previously reported. Nold accused Avenatti of defrauding the state and federal government as the owner of a Seattle coffee chain.
“In essence, he bought a company out of bankruptcy and then used it for a ‘pump and dump’ scheme to deprive federal and state taxing authorities of millions of dollars,” Nold said in the complaint.
An April 18 letter Fox News obtained on Wednesday shows Avenatti is now under investigation. The state bar only launches a “full investigation” if the attorney reviewing the complaint “sees evidence of a serious violation,” according to its website.
“The complaint against attorney Michael J. Avenatti has been reviewed and forwarded to the Enforcement Unit for further investigation and prosecution, if warranted,” the letter states, according to Fox News.

My “hater” ass made that SPLC hate list with some notable figures, including a neo-Nazi gunman “who stormed into a Sikh temple in Wisconsin, murdering six people before killing himself.” Sounds about right. The SPLC also put another member of Congress on the list: Senator Rand Paul. This guy despises minorities so much that, like me, he is a vocal opponent of the War on Drugs, rightly pointing out how it disproportionately harms minorities in our country.
What a racist dick.
How I made the list is almost as unbelievable as getting put on the list in the first place. A blogger published a roughly 15-second sound bite of me saying, “all options should be on the table” when it comes to a president, regardless of party affiliation, overstepping his or her executive boundaries.

The Ninth Circuit Just Allowed Children To Sue Trump Over Global Warming
A federal appeals court ruled Wednesday in favor of 21 children and young adults suing the U.S. government for not doing enough to protect their constitutional right to a stable climate.
The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals judges refused to grant mandamus relief and block the U.S. District Court in Oregon from hearing the suit, which was originally filed by the environmental group Our Children’s Trust in 2015.
A federal judge in Oregon ruled in 2016 the 21 youngsters had standing to sue. President Donald Trump’s administration and oil and gas groups appealed the decision in June 2017. They asked judges to “end this clearly improper attempt to have the judiciary decide important questions of energy and environmental policy” and upset the balance of powers. The Ninth Circuit disagreed.
“There is enduring value in the orderly administration of litigation by the trial courts, free of needless appellate interference,” Judge Sidney Thomas wrote on behalf of the court.
“If appellate review could be invoked whenever a district court denied a motion to dismiss, we would be quickly overwhelmed with such requests, and the resolution of cases would be unnecessarily delayed,” Thomas wrote.
The ruling is a victory for environmental activists seeking to use the courts to force the Trump administration to issue regulations to phase out fossil fuels. Julia Olson, Our Children’s Trust chief counsel, said the ruling gives a “green light for trial.”

YouTube Secretly Using SPLC To Police Videos
The Southern Poverty Law Center is assisting YouTube in policing content on their platform, The Daily Caller has learned.
The left-wing nonprofit — which has more recently come under fire for labeling legitimate conservative organizations as “hate groups” — is one of the more than 100 nongovernment organizations (NGOs) and government agencies in YouTube’s “Trusted Flaggers” program, a source with knowledge of the arrangement told TheDC.
The SPLC and other program members help police YouTube for extremist content, ranging from so-called hate speech to terrorist recruiting videos.
All of the groups in the program have confidentiality agreements, a spokesperson for Google, YouTube’s parent company, previously told TheDC. A handful of YouTube’s “Trusted Flaggers,” including the Anti-Defamation League and No Hate Speech — a European organization focused on combatting intolerance — have gone public with their participation in the program. The vast majority of the groups in the program have remained hidden behind their confidentiality agreements.

Luis Gutierrez Stormed Out Of House Chamber During SOTU
Illinois Democratic Rep. Luis Gutierrez stormed out of President Donald Trump’s first State Of The Union address Tuesday night as “USA” chants erupted on the House floor.
Towards the end of Trump’s speech, Gutierrez was spotted on camera getting up and exiting the chamber after Trump praised monuments across the country. As members of Congress applauded the president’s comments, the Illinois Democrat rose from his seat and walked out the door.
“Monuments to Washington and Jefferson — to Lincoln and King. Memorials to the heroes of Yorktown and Saratoga — to young Americans who shed their blood on the shores of Normandy, and the fields beyond,” Trump said. “And others, who went down in the waters of the Pacific and the skies over Asia. And freedom stands tall over one more monument: this one. This Capitol. This living monument to the American people. A people whose heroes live not only in the past, but all around us — defending hope, pride, and the American way.”
This was Gutierrez’s last State of The union address as a member of Congress, as he announced in late November that he would be retiring after this term.
